SPA is the only company to have provided psychological assessment and selection support to the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) and has been providing that support since 2000. During that time, our operational psychologists have provided and continue to provide direct support and consultation to USASOC’s assessment and selection programs. These include the A&S programs for Army Special Forces, Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations, the 75th Ranger Regiment, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (A), and other sensitive programs. We have provided this support for over twenty years, and many of our psychologists helped establish these programs.
USASOC
USASOC is the command charged with overseeing the various special operations forces of the United States Army. Its mission is to organize, train, educate, staff, equip, fund, administer, mobilize, deploy, and sustain Army special operations forces to successfully conduct worldwide special operations.
SPA is the only company to have provided psychological assessment and selection support to USASOC and has been providing that support since 2000. Many of our psychologists helped establish these programs while they were on active duty and continue to support them as SPA contract operational psychologists.
USAJFKSWCS
The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, The Special Operations Center of Excellence, assesses, selects, trains, and educates disciplined Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations and Special Forces warriors and leaders, and develops doctrine and capabilities to support the full range of military operations – providing our nation with a highly educated, innovative and adaptive force. SPA is the only company to have provided operational psychology support and consultation to the USAJFKSWCS’s assessment and selection programs. These include the A&S programs for Army Special Forces, Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations. We also provide practical training in the use of psychology, psychological oversight of high-risk training, and support of other sensitive programs. We have provided this support for over twenty years, and many of our psychologists helped establish these programs while they were on active duty and continue to support them as SPA contract operational psychologists.
SOAR
The United States Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) deploys worldwide in support of contingency missions and combatant commanders. Known as Night Stalkers, these Soldiers are recognized for their proficiency in nighttime operations. They are highly trained and ready to accomplish the very toughest missions in all environments, anywhere in the world, day, or night, with unparalleled precision. SPA is the only company to have provided operational psychology support for assessment and selection to the Night Stalkers.
75th Ranger Regiment
The 75th Ranger Regiment (Airborne) is a lethal, agile, and flexible force, capable of executing a myriad of complex, joint special operations missions in support of U.S. policy and objectives. Today’s Ranger Regiment is the Army’s premier raid force. Their capabilities include air assault and direct-action raids seizing key terrain such as airfields, destroying strategic facilities, and capturing or killing enemies of the Nation. Rangers can conduct squad through regimental size operations using a variety of infiltration techniques including airborne, air assault and ground platforms. The Regiment remains an all-volunteer force with an intensive screening and selection process followed by combat-focused training. Rangers are resourced to maintain exceptional proficiency, experience, and readiness. SPA is the only company to have provided operational psychology support for assessment and selection to the Ranger Regiment.
Asymmetric Warfare Group
The Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) provided global operational advisory support to U.S. Army forces to rapidly transfer current threat-based observations and solutions to tactical and operational commanders to defeat emerging asymmetric threats and enhance multi-domain effectiveness. AWG was headquartered at Ft. Meade, MD. SPA is the only company who provided psychological A&S support to the Army’s AWG from its inception in 2006 to its closure in 2020.
FBI HRT
The FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) is the counterterrorism and hostage rescue unit of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The HRT is trained to rescue American citizens and allies who are held by hostile forces, usually terrorist and/or criminal elements. The team also provides over watch and protection services for high level governmental personnel and domestic events. The HRT was founded in 1982 by Danny Coulson and completed its final certification exercise in October 1983. The HRT’s purpose is to serve as a domestic counter-terrorism unit, offering a tactical resolution option in hostage and high-risk law enforcement situations. It was originally composed of 50 operators; however, this number has since increased to well over 100 full-time operators. In addition, the unit has aviation and direct support assets that support team operations. The HRT commonly functions as a national Special Response Team used in highly sensitive or dangerous situations. Today it is part of the Tactical Support Branch of the FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) and is based near the FBI Academy at the Quantico Marine Corps Base, in Stafford County, Virginia. SPA is the only company to have provided psychological assessment support to the FBI’s elite HRT since 1999.
MARSOC
As a service component of the US Special Operations Command, Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) is tasked by the commander of USSOCOM to recruit, organize, train, equip, and deploy task-oriented, scalable, expeditionary Marine Corps Special Operations Forces worldwide to accomplish special operations missions assigned by the USSOCOM and/or Geographic Combatant Commanders (GCCs) via the Theater Special Operations Commands. SPA operational psychologists provided support to MARSOC from 2010 until 2017
