David Fenell is a licensed psychologist who served tours as the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force psychologist in Afghanistan (2002-2003) and Iraq (2006). He served as the IMA psychologist to USASOC, Fort Bragg, NC and has extensive experience in the assessment and selection of special operations personnel and in training foreign psychologists in assessment and selection procedures. Dr. Fenell received his PhD from Purdue University and completed postdoctoral training in counseling psychology at Texas A&M University. He is currently a professor of counselor education at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. His specialty is in family psychology and he is the author of the textbook Counseling Families: An Introduction to Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling. His recent publications and presentations have focused on helping military families respond to the reunion challenges that result after multiple combat deployments.
